What a thrilling ride into AAA!

Working with Turn10 Studios on Forza Motorsport was like nailing the apex on the perfect turn! Fast-paced, focused, and unforgettable. For over 20 years, Forza has been a fan-favourite in the simulation racing world, not just for its realism and speed, but for its trailblazing commitment to accessibility. Features like Blind Driving Assist, One Touch Driving, and other robust features in support of players’  visual, auditory, and mobility impairments have raised the bar for what inclusive game design looks like.
It was an incredible privilege to bring my UX design experience from titles like NFL and Mattel into the fast-paced world of simulation racing. Working closely with T10’s UX team in Redmond, I had the opportunity to contribute to the design and implementation of several new features—one of the highlights being Public Multiplayer Meetups, a community-driven experience that really got players revved up.
I collaborated directly with Game Designers and Software Developers to fine-tune the experience, delivering on the fun while keeping accessibility standards at the forefront. The end result was a key contributor to a massive resurgence to the game and increase in player sentiment since its initial launch.
To bring the vision to life, I mapped out detailed user flows that charted every possible route a player might take, covering all scenarios and edge cases. I then turned these flows into detailed wireframes, giving us a clear roadmap of the player experience from start to finish. From there, I built an interactive prototype that aligned perfectly with our UX goals incorporating every interaction from the player perspective. The wireframes were then converted into full colour comps and redlines to inform the engineers exactly how the UI system was supposed to be implemented.
Once we had sign-off, it was time to shift into high gear! I worked hand-in-hand with our UI implementers to ensure the final product stayed true to form, tracking down any UI and UX discrepancies in the experience.
It was an incredible ride from start to finish, and I couldn’t be more proud to have helped shape a feature that puts both performance and player experience in the driver’s seat.
